Bhutan Dev Fest International Hackathon Commences with Focus on Digital Identity and Blockchain Innovation
Paro, Bhutan – June 25, 2025 – The Bhutan Dev Fest International Hackathon officially commenced today at the Dungkar Dzong in Panbisa, Paro. This Three-day event, scheduled to run until June 27th, 2025, gathers innovators and developers to address contemporary challenges and cultivate groundbreaking solutions.
Day 1 of the hackathon began with participant check-in for the morning sessions, following breakfast. The initial agenda centered significantly on digital identity, featuring two pertinent sessions. The Officiating CEO of the NDI company provided "Insights on NDI," succeeded by the NDI Team's delivery of "Technical insights into National Digital Identity". These sessions established a foundational understanding of Bhutan's digital infrastructure.
Subsequently, Shiv conducted a session on "Building product on blockchain", emphasizing the practical applications of this transformative technology. A key discussion point during this segment involved confirming server requirements with Mr. Ugyen Namgay from GovTech.
The afternoon program marked the formal inauguration of the hackathon event. Following participant registration , the hackathon was officially launched. The facilitator led the session, featuring opening remarks from the Hon’ble Secretary, GovTech, and the President of the Ethereum Foundation. This was followed by a briefing regarding the event and a question-and-answer session for participants.
Teams then had the opportunity to introduce themselves and briefly outline their proposed ideas for development during the event, with each team allocated five minutes for their presentation. A networking coffee break facilitated interaction among participants prior to the commencement of the development phase.
The latter part of Day 1 saw teams actively engaging in the development of their proposed ideas. The day concluded with dinner, during which teams continued their work on projects, marking a productive commencement to the Bhutan Dev Fest International Hackathon.
